MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy is pleased to share that Mansfield Public Schools will host its first Future Teacher Signing Day Ceremony.
WHEN:
Thursday, May 11 from 6-7 p.m.
WHERE:
Mansfield High School Library, 250 East St.
WHAT:
To emphasize the value of the teaching profession, Mansfield Public Schools is hosting a Future Teacher Signing Day ceremony for students in the graduating Class of 2023 who plan to pursue careers in education.
While signing ceremonies are common for college-bound student-athletes, Future Teacher Signing Day ceremonies celebrate students’ commitment to the field of education, highlight educators’ crucial work and inspire others to become educators.
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) encourages districts to host these events and Mansfield has chosen to hold the event during National Teacher Appreciation Week, May 8-12. This is the first time that Mansfield High School is holding such an event.
The program will include remarks by Superintendent Murphy followed by a letter signing during which students will sign letters acknowledging their commitment to the field of education.
Teachers in the district and families of honorees are invited to attend.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to recognize our future teaching professionals during National Teacher Appreciation Week,” said Superintendent Murphy. “We are extremely fortunate to have teachers in our district who are passionate about our students’ success and work each day to make a positive impact on their lives.”
