MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy and Performing Arts Department Chair Sheila Newton wish to share information about Mansfield Public Schools’ upcoming performing arts events this month during Music In Our Schools Month sponsored by the National Association for Music Education.
“I would like to thank the Performing Arts Department for making all of these events possible,” said Superintendent Murphy. “I look forward to the opportunity to see our incredibly talented students and the dedicated staff members who organize these shows each year. Whether or not you know students in the schools, these events are open to everyone in the community.”
Mansfield Public Schools Performing Arts Department will showcase the following events during the month of March:
Percussion and Color Guard Showcase
Community members are invited to attend the Percussion and Color Guard Showcase on Sunday, March 12 from 4-5:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Mansfield High School, 250 East St.
The event, presented by Mansfield Band Parents, will feature performances by the Mini Color Guard, Varsity Color Guard, QMS Percussion Ensemble and MHS Winter Percussion. Tickets are $5. Attendees can park in the high school lot and enter via the gymnasium. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
Newsies Jr., Presented by Qualters Middle School
The Qualters Middle School Drama Club will present Disney’s “Newsies Jr.” in the auditorium at Qualters Middle School, 240 East St. on Thursday, March 16 and Friday, March 17 from 7-9 p.m.
Tickets are $5 and available for purchase here. Tickets will also be sold during school lunches starting March 13 through March 17.
Mansfield High School All Choir, All Band and All Orchestra Performances
The Mansfield High School Choir, Mansfield High School Band and Mansfield High School Orchestra will perform in the auditorium at Mansfield High School, 250 East St on the following dates:
- Mansfield High School Choir – Tuesday, March 21 at 6:30 p.m.
- Mansfield High School Orchestra – Wednesday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m.
- Mansfield High School Band – Thursday, March 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is free for all three events.
“Dear Edwina Jr.,” Presented by Jordan/Jackson Elementary School
Jordan/Jackson Elementary School will be presenting “Dear Edwina Jr.” in the auditorium at Mansfield High School, 250 East St. Tickets can be purchased at the door before each performance. The school requests that all payments be made via cash or check only.
Performance days are as follows:
- Friday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, March 25 at 1 p.m. (understudies)
- Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m.
